Passive external doors – what are their characteristics and why is it worth choosing them?
Passive doors are an integral part of energy-efficient construction. This solution brings numerous benefits – both for the environment and the household budget. In this article, we will discuss the characteristics of this model and the most important benefits of installing passive external doors. We encourage you to read!
Passive external doors – characteristics
Passive doors are mainly used in modern, energy-efficient construction. A characteristic feature of this model is a special design that ensures energy savings. Passive door leaves are characterized by a high thermal insulation coefficient (significantly higher than in the case of energy-efficient doors), which translates into minimizing heat loss. Such a model does not let cold air into the building from the outside and at the same time prevents warm air from escaping from the interior of the house.
The heat transfer coefficient (Ud) for passive doors cannot exceed 0.8 W/(m2K). This value indicates how much heat (expressed in watts) penetrates 1 m2 of door surface in 1 hour when the outside air temperature is 1 degree lower than inside the building. Maintaining such excellent parameters is possible thanks to the special door design ensuring maximum tightness and the use of the highest quality materials. Passive doors are most often made of natural wood, steel or aluminum. It should be emphasized that for the proper functioning of passive doors, professional installation and the use of appropriate seals are also necessary.
Key advantages of passive doors
Investing in passive doors brings long-term benefits. The most important ones include:
- lower energy consumption for home heating, which translates into reduced building operating costs,
- improved living comfort, thanks to maintaining optimal interior temperatures and reducing outside noise,
- purchasing passive doors, due to their durability, high quality and long life, is an investment for years,
- reduced energy consumption is equivalent to lower CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, which is why passive doors are an ecological choice.
External passive doors from Dudek Group
Dudek Group offers external passive doors made of high-quality glued hardwood and coniferous wood. The profiles have been finished and additionally reinforced with stainless steel elements. The doors are resistant to mechanical damage and atmospheric factors. The passive model from Dudek Group is distinguished by better stability and insulation, thanks to the use of construction solutions such as:
- 100 mm thick panel,
- double seal,
- reinforcement on both sides with a metal surface,
- filling guaranteeing a good heat transfer coefficient,
- threshold strip enabling warm installation.
Customers can choose door leaves in many styles, patterns and colors (available in the RAL palette). There is also the option of making external doors according to the customer’s individual design.
