Choosing the right external doors for your home is an extremely important decision that affects not only the aesthetics of the entire building, but also the comfort and safety of the household. In this article, we will tell you what to look for so that the doors you choose are a stylish complement to the property and at the same time provide effective protection against burglary. Check out our practical tips!

Stylish external doors – what to look for when choosing?

External doors are the showcase of our home, so it is worth paying attention to their appearance, which should be consistent with the architectural style of the building. In terms of color, doors are usually matched to the facade, windows or roofing, although there is nothing to stop you from going a little crazy in this matter and choosing a model in a very distinctive color, e.g. red, blue or green.

The most important thing is to maintain consistency with the style of the property. Full, minimalist doors are best for modern projects, while in slightly older houses you can safely install models with original decorations and glazing, giving the property an atmospheric character. Of course, in terms of aesthetics, the owner’s individual preferences also play a significant role.

How to choose external doors that guarantee the highest level of protection?

For many people, the most important factor in deciding to buy external doors is their level of security. Key aspects here include the solidity of the door leaf construction and the use of additional reinforcements and security, including the use of a multi-point door locking system (preferably at least 3-point).

External doors are determined according to the European RC burglary resistance class:

  • RC1 N and RC1 – these are basic door versions that provide protection when a burglar uses only physical force,
  • RC2 N and RC2 – a door class that protects against burglary when using basic, small tools (screwdriver, hammer, pliers),
  • RC3 and RC4 – these are the two most popular variants used in single-family and multi-family buildings, RC3 protects when using tools such as a crowbar (the time needed for burglary is 5 minutes), and RC4 also protects when using a heavy hammer, chisel and axe, as well as power tools, including: saws, drills (time needed for burglary is 10 minutes),
  • RC5 and RC6 – door versions with maximum resistance to burglary (15 minutes and 20 minutes) when burglars use advanced tools – however, both variants are mainly used in public utility buildings.
