Building a frame house step by step – what to pay attention to?

Adrianna Adamska 25 May 2025

Frame houses are becoming increasingly popular, being a faster and cheaper alternative to traditional brick houses. In our article, we will briefly discuss the individual stages of implementing this type of investment. We will also suggest what to pay special attention to before making a decision and during the construction of a frame house, in order to avoid the most common mistakes. We encourage you to read!

Stages of building a frame house

1. Preparing the plot and foundations for the house

First, you need to obtain a building permit and choose a frame house design. Then the foundations are marked out and poured, which must be insulated and properly protected against moisture. This is the basis of the entire structure.

2. Assembly of the frame house structure

A wooden frame is placed on the prepared foundation, which will create the load-bearing walls of the house. At this stage, the roof truss, window and door joinery are also installed, and partition walls and stairs are erected (if provided for in the design). The roof can be finished with roof tiles or metal roofing tiles.

3. Insulation and installation work

When the house structure is ready, it is necessary to deal with the wall cladding and installation (electrical, heating). Insulation and acoustic material is laid in the walls – mainly mineral wool. Additionally, the walls of the building are protected from the inside with a vapor barrier film, and from the outside with a wind barrier film.

4. Finishing work

At this stage, screeds are made and plasterboards are installed, which are then putty and painted. The building’s facade is also finished in the form of wooden boards or traditional plaster – all in accordance with the design. Most often, the house is handed over to the owner in a developer’s condition, although some companies also implement the investment in the “turnkey” option.
